A-Live and Kickin'

So those of you that are playing the homegame, it's been a while since our last entry. But that's because many things have been moving around with Akasa. In the last few months, we've been experimenting with recording, jamming and playing live with electronics. Most notably, we've been using a program called Ableton Live which allows us to use loops (drums, synths, etc.) on the fly. So we are essentially creating something new every time we play. We should be debuting our new sound at a venue near you soon. We hope you can join us in our progression as a band and musicians.

New studio track, "It's Alright"!!

Well, it's been a long time coming, but we finally have some new studio tracks. Just to give you something to wet your whistle, we've uploaded the first of several new studio cuts. It's a little bit rock 'n' roll.. a little bit punk and a whole lotta whoop-ass. "It's Alright" also features some bitchin' organ by our good friend, Tom Brislin (Yes, Meatloaf, Spiraling). So give it a spin, and let us know what you think on our message board!

Chris Whitley R.I.P.

Every once in a while as a musician, you hear something that inspires you. Inspires you to stay true to who you are and your music. Chris Whitley didn't care what people in the music industry or pop culture thought about his music. He always pushed the limits of what a songwriter was. Never bowing in to any pressure to become a superstar. And that's why he and his music still mean so much to me. He was music. He lived it. Every day. And that rocks.

There was nothing between his spirit and the National Steel guitar he wore like a badge of honor. I can only hope to become as open, adventurous and daring a musician as Chris was. He was not only a big influence on me musically, but on Akasa as well. He was a true original.

God's speed Chris. We'll miss you here!

Patrick Swayze and New Songs

Have you ever wanted to play at a club behind a chicken wire fence while drunk fools throw beer bottles at you? We have!! Ok, well.. its not that bad. Actually it's not like that at all, but it sure sounds good. What are we talking about? The Roadhouse of course! We're back again at this really fun, bluesy type joint in NYC. And if you haven't seen Roadhouse the movie with Patrick Swayze, do yourself a favor and go rent it. Kick Ass!!

We'll be performing a handful of new tunes that should give you an insight to the direction we're heading in. We'll also be featuring guest keyboardist, Shaun Granato. Shaun is a great singer/songwriter based in the NYC area who is also a good friend of the band. We're looking forward to jamming with him!

See you at the show this weekend!

We're big in Europe

After an extended vacation for some, additions of family for others, Akasa is on the move. We have a ton of new songs which will be debuting in the upcoming months at shows. Things have also taken a more experimental turn here at Akasa Central and they are for the better. Right now, we are a trio (2 guitars, bass, vocals) that has and will be utilizing guest stars, most notably, violinist Karl Schlegel who sat in with us at our last gig in NYC. Be on the lookout for video and audio clips from that show on our site soon.

Rockin' the Roadhouse!

Come join us this weekend for a unique night of Akasa songs at a really fun venue. Akasa will be doing another Elektro/Akoustik show with Marc (Elektro) and Gerry (Akoustik) along with special guest, violinist Karl Schlegel.

Now, if that wasn't enough, the venue, A&M Roadhouse is a real, good time BBQ joint located in lower Manhattan. So come out early, get some drinks and get your BBQ on before the show!

Yee Haw!
